The Super Eagles started the second half on a positive note as Feyenoord striker and Europa Conference League top scorer Cyriel Dessers converted a ball through to him by Calvin Bassey in the 54th minute to equalize for Nigeria.
The lead did not last long as captain William Troost-Ekong blasted the ball by Francis Uzoho to put Mexico back in front in the 56th minute.
The Super Eagles pressed on late to get an equalizer but Mexico held on to the lead and sealed yet another victory against Nigeria.
Ekong blamed for Mexico defeat
Super Eagles captain Ekong was under fire for his performance in the friendly game against Mexico.
The Watford defender was at fault for the opening goal and thundered the second goal for Mexico into his own net.
Several Nigerians were of the opinion that Ekong does not deserve to be an automatic in the Super Eagles set up anymore.
