The President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government of Nigeria has issued an order to civil servants ahead of the second leg 2022 FIFA World Cup double-header playoff qualifiers between the Super Eagles and the Black Stars of Ghana.
Buhari orders civil servants to close by 1pm for Super Eagles of Nigeria vs Ghana clash
By 1 pm government workers should go home and support the Super Eagles of Nigeria against Ghana as Buhari expected at MKO Stadium.
The Super Eagles of Nigeria were held to a 0-0 draw by Ghana in the first leg at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, Ashanti.
Ahead of the second leg, the Buhari administration has stated that at 1 pm civil servants should close from work.
The reason for the early close from work is for Nigerians to support the Super Eagles at the 60,000 capacity MKO Abiola Stadium in Abuja or at home from the Television.
Dr. Ngozi Onwudiwe Permanent Secretary, Service Welfare Office made this known in a circular made public on Monday, March 28, 2022.
Onwudiwe signed for Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan Head of Service of the Civil Service.
The circular said, “As you aware the Super Eagles of Nigeria will be meeting the Black Stars of Ghana in continuation of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier, playoff.
“There is need to mobilize support for the Nigerian side. Consequently, I am directed to inform you that all offices be closed 1:00pm on Tuesday, 29th March 2022.
“Permanent Secretaries are requested to give this circular wide publicity to achieve desired result.”
It is expected that President Buhari is in attendance for the Super Eagles to defeat Ghana and book their place at the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup later this year.
