Fly-half James Marshall will be unavailable to lead Taranaki in their ITM Cup defence, the captain sidelined by a broken toe.
Taranaki's poor start to their ITM Cup defence has been compounded by the loss of captain James Marshall for the season.
The 2014 champions have begun this season 0-2 with losses to Wellington and Auckland, and have lost 26-year-old fly-half Marshall due to a broken toe.
Marshall also plies his trade for Super Rugby outfit Hurricanes, with 30 appearances and 72 points to his name for the 2015 runners-up.
"X-ray results have come through not good, season over before it really started!" Marshall tweeted on Monday.
Taranaki are preparing to host another winless side, Otago, in New Plymouth on Saturday.
