Ekaterina Makarova is undaunted by facing Serena Williams in the US Open semi-finals as she continues her bid for a maiden grand slam.
World number one Williams is the heavily fancied favourite to reach the final at Flushing Meadows, having collected 17 career slam titles.
However, Makarova - who is on her best run at a slam - can take heart from the fact she defeated Williams in straight sets at the 2012 Australian Open.
And the Russian has no fear as she bids to realise a childhood dream.
"It's special, but I'm not thinking all the time I'm in a grand slam against Serena," said the 17th seed.
"To win the grand slam [is] always the dream. From the kid when I was going to school and then came back home and watching some matches.
"You don't believe that you can be here, and finally you're here and going so far."
The winner of the last four-clash will meet either Shuai Peng or Caroline Wozniacki in the final.
