New Zealand captain Richie McCaw is focused on helping the All Blacks bounce back rather than his record-breaking appearance on Saturday.

McCaw will become the most-capped player in international rugby when he features for the All Blacks for a 142nd time when they take on Australia for the Bledisloe Cup at Eden Park.

But the 34-year-old is eager to help Steve Hansen's men respond after last weekend's loss to the Wallabies in Sydney saw the world champions miss out on the Rugby Championship trophy.

"I really want to be trying to go out and train as hard as I can so I can play well on Saturday," McCaw told a news conference on Friday.

He added: "I want to enjoy the chance to play here again and when you have a loss like last week it makes you want to play even more.

"There's no doubt when you play for the All Blacks here it feels like a great place to play. There are other stadiums in New Zealand but this one has got some special memories.

"I love playing here in front of your home crowd. However many thousand get in here it is a great occasion to play rugby. It's great we've got an opportunity with the Bledisloe on the line, it couldn't be better."

Quade Cooper is starting at fly-half for the Wallabies for the Test in Auckland, and McCaw is unsure how the Auckland-born Queensland Red will be received.

Cooper, 27, was booed and jeered during Australia's 2011 Rugby World Cup semi-final loss to the All Blacks.

"He's the fly-half of their team and we want to make it as tough a night for him as possible," McCaw added.

"That's what I'm worried about and if the crowd help out with that, I don't know, that would be good."
