Super Eagles defender shows off his maternal grandfather
The Gent defender took to Instagram to show off his maternal grandfather who he shares a name with.
Troost-Ekong was born in Netherlands to a Nigerian father and a Dutch mother. Although he plays for Nigeria, it seems Troost-Ekong is still very close to his mother’s family.
The Gent defender took to Instagram to show off his maternal grandfather who he shares a name with.
“With my inspiration, my 90 year young grandad Willem Troost, at my cousin's wedding,” the 22-year-old defender wrote.
After getting his Super Eagles cap in 2015, the defender has a total of six caps for Nigeria.
He was part of the Super Eagles team that played in two friendly games last week.
Nigeria beat Mali 1-0 before trashing Luxembourg 3-1.
