Super Eagles goalkeeper clashes with Sunday Oliseh over captaincy decision

There was chaos at the Super Eagles camp after Sunday Oliseh and Vincent Enyeama's row

Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama and coach Sunday Olisehclashed at their Belgium camp where the Nigerian national team are preparing for their friendly games against Congo and Cameroon.

The drama started after Oliseh ordered Enyeama out of the camp after the goalkeeper questioned his decision to drop him as captain of the team for Ahmed Musa.

Several reports have had it that Enyeama’s row with Oliseh was as a result of him arriving late in camp.

New reports emerging from the Hotel Verviers in Belgium however revealed that Oliseh never had a problem with Enyeama’s late arrival considering that he was just coming from his late mum’s funeral in Akwa Ibom last weekend.

The row, Pulse Sports learnt started in a meeting where Oliseh announced that Ahmed Musa will be his new captain.

Enyeama was said to have interrupted Oliseh to insist that he was still the captain of the Super Eagles which infuriated the coach.

Oliseh ordered Enyeama to leave the meeting and after the Lille goalkeeper refused, the coach called on security agents in the hotel to haul Enyeama out of the hotel.

It took the interventions of some senior players like John Obi Mikel, Ahmed Musa, Emmanuel Emenike, Ogenyi Onazi and Elderson Echiejile to plead with Oliseh before the row was settled.

Theand persuaded Enyeama to remain in camp.

“It’s true that there was a little misunderstanding in the camp of @NGSuperEagles, but the matter has been resolved. Enyeama remains in camp,” the NFF said on Twitter.

“Ahmed Musa is the captain we want, he can lead from the front and not retiring soon,” Oliseh said.

“We have a philosophy and working in that line.”

The Super Eagles will face Congo on Thursday, October 8 at the  Stade de la Cite de l'Oie, Vise.

Three days later, on Sunday, October 11, they will face Cameroon.

Both games will kick off at 8pm Nigerian time.

The NFF have confirmed that the clash with Cameroon will be at the Edmond Machtens Stadium in Brussels.
