Niger Tornadoes Coach Bala says his players were slow to react in defeat to Abia Warriors

Niger Tornadoes coach, Abubakar Bala has blamed their away loss to Abia Warriors on the slow reaction from his players.

Tornadoes lost away at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Wednesday, March 1 in a matchday 11 fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Abia Warriors scored through Anthony Okemmiri who reacted quickly to a penalty save by Tornadoes goalkeeper, Mustapha Aliko in the 16th minute.

Coach Bala was disappointed that his players did not react quickly when his goalkeeper saved the penalty from Godwin Zaki.

The coach said that he is going back to work on his side reaction to second balls even though he praised them for their resilience throughout the game and for adhering to instructions.

Tornadoes have scored just three goals in their last six games but Bala said there was no cause for alarm for the inability of his strikers not to score in recent matches.

I don’t want to build my team around a selected striker or players, I want a team that every player can score even the defenders”, he added.

Tornadoes will next host Nasawara United at home on Sunday, March 5.
