The Premier League legend publishes a team of the week xi based on performances that impressed him in the Premier League match week.

Iwobi was a standout performer for Everton on Sunday as they picked up their first win of the season by beating West Ham 1-0.

Alex Iwobi has been a player reborn in central midfield for Everton and the display against West Ham is just the latest in a pattern of excellence that has been forming this season.

The Nigerian international touched the ball 76 times, more than any other Everton player and only bettered in the game by West Ham’s Vladamir Coufal who had 81 touches.

Iwobi assisted the only goal of the game, scored by Neal Maupay and also played 46 accurate passes with an 82.1% accuracy.

Alex Iwobi is one of 34 players to have played all 630 possible minutes of Premier League football this season, establishing himself as a stalwart in the Everton midfield.

The Super Eagles midfielder ranks third in the Premier League for through balls played so far with five, only behind Bruno Fernandes with six and Kevin DeBruyne with seven through balls.

The 26-year-old has played 300 passes this season, averaging 42.6 passes per game, resulting in two assists.
