Rafa Benitez tips which Super Eagles forward will surprise Serie A this season

Rafa Benitez believes established stars in Serie A like Dybala, Pogba, and Lukaku can still be challenged by the Super Eagles star

Super Eagles forwards Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, and Cyriel Dessers are all set to play in the Serie A this season

Former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has predicted that Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman is a player to watch out for ahead of the 2022/23 Italian Serie A season.

Benitez believes that Lookman has the potential to take Serie A by storm despite there being bigger names in the league.

Lookman recently completed a permanent transfer to Atalanta, leaving behind German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in search of a new home to shine.

The former Liverpool and Everton manager stated that there are a lot of lesser-known players who have just signed for Serie A clubs and could star during the new season.

In an interview with Gazzetta Dello Sport as reported by calcioatalanta, Benitez stated that whilst established stars like Paulo Dybala, Paul Pogba, and Romelu Lukaku might still grab most of the headlines, Lookman can also make himself noticed.

Benitez said: "In Serie A, many little-known players have arrived in the international arena but which I consider excellent. Dybala, Pogba and Lukaku are the most striking shots.

"But I really appreciated the other Juventus grafts, Di Maria and Bremer. Attention to Lookman of Atalanta: it could be a pleasant surprise."

Lookman is set for his first season in the Serie A after enjoying an impressive 2021/22 season on loan in the English Premier League with Leicester City.

The 24-year-old gained the trust of Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers early on and went on to feature in 51 matches for the Foxes, bagging eight (8) goals and five (5) assists.
