With the appointment, Peseiro replaces interim boss, Augustine Eguavoen, who was in charge of the Super Eagles at the infamous AFCON 2021 in Cameroon.
Almost two weeks after the Portuguese manager and the NFF put pen to paper, the 62-year-old has finally reacted to his appointment.

"Commanding the Super Eagles starts with knowing how to respect the history, value it and be inspired by its roots. "

Peseiro to take charge of Mexico, Ecuador friendlies
Nigeria will take on Mexico and Ecuador in a double-header clash during a tour of the United States with the new manager, Peseiro, to take charge in what will be his first assignment as Nigeria's coach.
The Nigeria football governing body, the NFF, has already released a 30-man squad for the games against Mexico and Ecuador led by captain, Ahmed Musa and eight NPFL stars.
Peseiro and the Super Eagles will face Mexico on May 29th before taking on Ecuador on June 2.
