Robin van Persie came off the bench to net a late winner away against Atromitos in the Europa League
Former Manchester United and Arsenal striker Robin van Persie has opened his account for new club Fenerbahce.
Van Persie came off the bench to net a late winner away against Atromitos in the UEFA Europa League.
The striker who was signed from Manchester United this summer connected a head from a Caner Erkin's cross.
Fenerbahce will host the return leg as the aim to book a place in the group stages of the competition.
The striker Van Persie believes his first goal for the club has set the Turkish side on their way to the UEFA Europa League's group stages.
"It's definitely a good result but I think it is open until the end," he said afterwards.
"To get that one goal I think is very important, it's a great result. We need to know that, while we are in a good condition, it's only halfway."
