NPFL MFM FC close in on leaders Plateau United

MFM FC beat Gombe United at home 1-0, the same weekend Plateau United lost 2-0 away at ABS FC.

MFM FC are just three points behind leaders Plateau United following a slim 1-0 win over Gombe United in a Matchday 35 fixture played on Sunday, August 20 at the Agege Township Stadium, Lagos.

The Olukoya Boys have been chasing Plateau United for most of the season and have now kept their title hopes alive by picking up the three points at home to Gombe the same weekend Plateau United shockingly lost 2-0 at ABS FC.

MFM FC dominated the game from the start with midfielder Chuka Onuwa pulling the strings.

Their goal came in the 21st minute through Monsuru Bashiru who rose highest to head home Onuwa’s well-taken corner kick.

Also in Matchday 35, leaders Plateau United suffered a shocking 2-0 defeat away at ABS FC who kept their survival hopes alive with the win.

Samuel Oyedeji opened goal in the fifth minute from the penalty spot before Wasiu Alalade doubled ABS FC’s lead in the 65th minute.

Plateau United are just three points above MFM FC who are now five points above Akwa United and Enyimba in third and fourth respectively.
