Three away wins in match day 4 as Heartland go top

The match day four of the NPFL recorded three away wins as Heartland FC goes top with nine points

 

Heartland FC went top of the Nigeria Professional Football League with one of the away wins of match day four as they trashed Kwara United in Illorin 3-1.

Ahmed Jimoh opened scoring for the home side in the ninth minute as he pounced on an David Obiozor’s rebound.

Heartland FC were however back in the game three minutes later as Mohammed Mohammed netted an equaliser.

Heartland took the lead in the 21sth minute through Jimoh Oni and sealed the win with a Bright Ejike header.

Heartland now top the table with maximum points from three games.

Draw specialists Lobi Stars were held to a 2-2 stalemate at home by Sharks of Port Harcourt, which means that Makurdi based club now has four points from four matches.

Jaiyeola Yusuf opened scoring for the visitors in the eighth minute before Uche Ihurualam restored parity for Lobi Stars in the 43rd minute.

Lobi looked to have won their first match of the season as Idakwo Eche gave them the lead with a header in the 60th minute.

Bode Daniel however scored in the dying minutes to ensure that both sides share the points.

Despite playing two matches lesser than most of the clubs on the table, champions Kano Pillars moved from 12th place to sixth place with a 1-0 victory over 10-men Enyimba at the Sani Abacha stadium on Sunday, April 19.

Ubong Ekpai's  goal with a long range effort in the 44th minute was all the Kano based club needed to continue their 100% run in the season.

Enyimba ended the match with ten men as captain Chinedu Udoji received his marching order for a second booking five minutes from time.

Shooting Stars FC secured their first point of the season as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Nasarawa United.

Franklin Howard boys were unlucky not to have snatched a victory as their impressive outing was nearly crowned with a goal as Ajayi Junior narrowly missed with a close-range shot.

Oluyole Warriors’ remain at the bottom of the table but their performance of the day will give them hope of survival.

Nasarawa United with the draw moved one place up in the table from 16th to 15th with four points.

With just one win in the season, Enugu Rangers continued their poor form as they fell at home by a lone goal to Giwa FC.

Shaibu Ibrahim’s 50th-minute goal ensure that Giwa FC are now fifth with seven points.

FC Taraba who led the table at the end of the match day two and three suffered their first lose of the season as the fell 1-0 to host Bayelsa United.

That was Bayelsa United's first win of the season and takes them to 16th on the table.

Prince Aggrey gave Sunshine Stars all three points by scoring in added time against Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt in Akure, for a 2-1 win.

Akwa United also got their first win of the season as they pipped visiting Ifeanyi Uba FC by a lone goal.

Abia Warriors suffered their second loss of the season as they fell 1-2 to visiting Wikki Tourist.

The win takes Wikki to second on the table from seventh.

Sunshine Stars of Akure recorded their second victory of the season as they defeated visiting Dolphiins by 2-1.

The match between Warri Wolves and El-Kanemi has been postponed.
