Giwa FC top after match day 5

Giwa FC shoots to the top of the NPFL while table toppers, Heartland and Champions, Kano Pillars lose their 100% start to the season

Giwa FC

After their away win on match day four against Enugu Rangers, Giwa FC continued their impressive form as they thrashed struggling Akwa United by four goals to nothing.

It took the home side 18 minutes before they opened the lead through Mohammed Saleh before Akwa United's Amos Danladi scored an own goal to double the lead for Giwa FC.

Five minutes later Ocheme Edoh latched on a pass from Shuaib Ibrahim to score the third before adding a second in the 75th minute after a defensive mix-up.

Giwa FC are now top of the Nigeria Football Professional League table with 10 points from five games.

Wikki Tourist ran out 1-0 winners at home to Warri Wolves.

Victor Yakubu converted a penalty to win all three points for Wikki which keep them in second place on the NPFL table with same points with Giwa FC but lesser goal difference.

Heartland lost their number one position on the league table after falling to a 1-0 defeat at home to Abia Warriors.

Ifeanyi Onyeali scored in the dying minutes of the Oriental Derby to take the Abbia Warriors to eight in the table and making up for their home loss to Wiki Tourist on match day four.

Enyimba won away at FC Taraba after their match day four defeat to champions Kano Pillars.

Last season’s top scorer, Mfon Udoh scored on the 56th minute to avenge their last season’s defeat in this same fixture.

The victory takes them to fifth on the NPFL table after a stuttering start to the season.

Champions Kano Pillars' 100% start on the season was dented with a 2-1 loss away at Lafia by Nasarawa United.

Esosa Igbinoba won the match with a brace as Rabiu Ali scored the consolatory goal for Kano Pillars in the 66th minutes.

The win takes Nasawara United to seventh in the table from 15th while Kano Pillars fall from sixth to ninth but have played two matches lesser than most clubs.

Gabros lifted themselves after the defeat at Akwa United to thrash visiting Lobi Stars 2-0.

Lobi looked set for another draw before Elu Wilson's long range hit sailed past Lobi’s goalkeeper, Akpor Ekoi into the net just four minutes from stoppage time.

Okereke Maduabuchi sealed the three points for Gabros with a simple tap in after good works from Okereje Maduabuchi.

This is Lobi's first loss of the season having drawn the four previous matches.

Enugu Rangers' coach, Kelechi Emeteole need undefined.

He sure still needs the security around him as Enugu Rangers continued with their poor start of the season falling 1-0 to host Dolphins.

Ifeanyi Egwim converted from the penalty spot for Dolphins to claim their first win and three points of the season.
