Liverpool striker will not debate FA Sanction over Instagram post
Liverpool announce that Balotelli would defend a 'guilty' plea in instagram post case
Liverpool announced on Friday night that the 24 year-old has decided against a not-guilty plea.
In response to the charge, the Italy international who just returned to training with Liverpool in preparation for Saturday's EPL game against Man utd; accepts the verdict and will be offering mitigation to the discplinary body's panel presented in form of a written defence.
Balotelli's defence would be that the message he re-transmitted was an ironic strike at racism and that his own multi-cultural background has led him to speak up against racism, rather than propagate it. The message depicted the computer game character ‘Super Mario’ alongside a racial stereotype and anti-Semitic remark: “Jumps like a black man and grabs coins like a Jew.”
With his seemingly guilty plea, punishment for the act could now be limited to a fine.
