Belgian coach, Georges Leekens will be leading the Algerian senior national team to Nigeria to face the Super Eagles following his appointment as boss of the Fennec foxes.

Leekens was on Thursday, October 27 named as coach of the national team by the Algerian Football Federation.

This is a return to Algeria for the Belgian who led the national team for six months in 2003 before quitting for family reasons.

The 67-year-old gets the appointment just two days after he was sacked from Belgian club, Lokeren.

He was sacked just after Lokeren’s 2-1 loss to Oostende in the Belgian league on Tuesday, October 27 which left them near the bottom of the table.

He comes in to replace Milovan Rajevac, who was sacked following Algeria's home draw with Cameroon in the matchday one of the 2018 FIFA World Cup group qualifiers earlier in October 2016.
