Flying Eagles defender, Izu Omego was rushed to the hospital after he collided with an opponent in Abuja
A player with the second men’s Nigerian national football team, the Flying Eagles, survived a head-on-collision with another player at the ongoing Super 4 tournament holding in Abuja.
Izu Omego, a defender collided with a Kano Pillars player on Monday and was rushed to the hospital with fear that the accident may be fatal.
Team doctor of the Flying Eagles, Ozi Salami said: ‘Izu is much better now. He will have a scan to further ascertain the extent of the injury.’
He has since re-joined the rest of the team and may be part of the game against Warri Wolves on Wednesday.
Nigeria won the game 2-1. Suleiman Abdullahi put the Eagles in the lead in the 22nd minute, an own goal from the skipper, Musa Mohammed levelled Kano Pillars.
Taiwo Awoniyi who provided assist for the first goal restored lead for the Garba Manu led side over the 2014 Nigerian League Champions.
