The Black Starlets of Ghana will not take part in next year’s African Youth Championship slated for Niger after it was alleged to have fielded an overaged player
CAF Bans Ghana From AYC 2015 Over Age Cheating
After the country was alleged to have fielded overaged players in its final round of qualifiers for Niger 2015, CAF found Ghana guilty of the act and issued a statement on Saturday confirming the ban
the Ghana Football Association GFA said in a statement
Ghana’s last opponent before sealing qualification to the tournament, Cameroon reported to CAF who have now banned the West Africans, after the Local Organising Committee for Niger 2015, ruled that one out of the seven reported players is overaged
CAF in a letter to the GFA on Saturday refuted MRI analysis report conducted on the player by a Medical Centre in Ghana, claiming it contradicted that of two CAF medical experts which found the player in question, ineligible.
However, the Ghana Football Association protests against the decision claiming that none of the players is overaged as the two MRI tests conducted in the presence of a CAF medical officer and by a Consultant Radiologist in Ghana indicated that the player is really under 17.
