The 33 year-old Nigerian international injured a crucial ligament on his knee in Stoke’s Saturday premier league 1-0 win over Manchester City

The injury was thought not to be serious after he collapsed on the pitch in Saturday’s game

Odemwingie came in as substitute and was strectched out in the weekend's game against City after he landed awkwardly from a botched attempt to control an aerial ball; he spent just twenty minutes in the game
