Arsenal have identified Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen as one of the potential replacements for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang when the summer window opens in June.

Aubameyang left Arsenal to join Barcelona in January, but the Gunners failed to bring in a replacement for him.

However, with the North-London side in the driving seat in the top four race, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is aware of the importance of adding more firepower to his side's attack next season.

The Gunners have had to rely on goals from the likes of Bukayo Saka, Emile-Smith Rowe and others in the battle to finish in the top four this season.

Arsenal's main striker Alexandre Lacazette has struggled, while Eddie Nketiah is yet to show that he has the quality to lead the line.

As a result, the Gunners have drawn up a shortlist of five strikers in their search for a proven goalscorer.

And according to CBS Sports via the Sun, Osimhen is one of the five strikers Arsenal are currently monitoring.

The 23-year-old is one of the best strikers in Serie A after joining Napoli from Lille for a club and African record of €81.3million in 2020.

Osimhen has scored 11 league goals in 20 games for Napoli this season despite missing two months of action due to a facial injury.

The Nigerian international is considered alongside Dusan Vlahovic as the best young attacker in Italy's top-flight.

Arsenal are aware of Osimhen's quality and could make a move for him this season.

However, they also face competition from Newcastle, who are also interested in the Nigerian.

The Gunners may also have to break their transfer record if they are to sign Osimhen after Napoli placed a price tag of €100m on him.

Osimhen still has three years left on his current deal at Napoli.
