Jose Mourinho invites former Chelsea player to receive EPL medal

Despite leaving Chelsea for Wolfsburg in January, Shurrle has been invited to collect an EPL winners medal

Jose Mourinho has invited former forward, Andre Schurrle to come collect an English Premier League medal despite leaving Chelsea in January.

The forward started the season with Chelsea, making 14 appearances before leaving for Bundesliga club Wolfsburg.

A player must make at least five appearances to be eligible for a medal and even when Schurrle has done that, he didn't expect to be given a medal before Mourinho sent him an invitaton.

"I didn't know that I'd get a medal when I didn't play most of the second half of the season," Schurrel said in an interview with BBC World Service's World Football programme.

"Jose Mourinho sent me a text to say that I'd get a medal and he asked me to come to the last game. That was very nice for me."
