Lobi Stars are still on top of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) after the matchday 16 fixtures played on Sunday, April  8.

Seven matchday 16 fixtures were played which involved two draws and five home wins.

A total of 12 goals were scored, with only one match not producing any goals.

The game between Akwa United VS Plateau United, Kwara United VS Enyimba, and MFM FCVS Nasarawa United were postponed due to their involvement in the CAF Confederations Cup.


NPFL Five home wins

Lobi Stars are still on top of the NPFL thanks to a penalty converted by Samad Kadiri in the 66th minute to give the Markurdi side all three points as they defeated El Kanemi Warriors 1-0.

A James Odeh goal in the 78 minute gave Yobe Desert Stars all three points against Go Round

An early goal scored by Abubakar Ibrahim Babawo in the 15th minute was enough to give Niger Tornadoes a 1-0 victory over 2016 NPFL Champions Rangers International.

Katsina United defeated Rivers United 2-1, the home side took the lead through Obinna Eleje in the sixth minute, before Emeka Ogbugh equalised in the ninth minute, but Martins Ursule scored what turned out to be the winner in the 78 minute to give Katsina all three points.

Ifeanyi Ubah had to come from a goal down to beat Sunshine Stars, Alimi Sikiru gave the visitors the lead in the 17th minute, before Patrick Ikeokwu equalised in the 25th minute.

Issif Traore scored for Ifeanyi Ubah in the 48 minute to give them the lead, while Alakwe Chijioke  scored in the 61st minute to seal a 3-1 win.


NPFL two draws

Heartland and Abia Warriors played out a goalless draw in the only match that failed to produce goals.

While Wikki Tourists and Kano Pillars played out a 1-1 draw, Nafiu Bala Kabuga scored a penalty in the 23rd minute to give Wikki the lead, but was cancelled out by Ibrahim Alassan in the 31st minute.

The NPFL continues with rescheduled matches on Wednesday, April 11.
