Carl Frampton is the WBA super featherweight champion after beating Leo Santa Cruz in one of the fights of the year.
Carl Frampton is the new WBA super featherweight champion after winning a 12-round slugfest against Leo Santa Cruz by a majority decision.
Frampton's fury of punches in the opening rounds looked to have convinced the judges before the Northern Irishman landed a huge left in the third round.
Santa Cruz was getting in the majority of shots but Frampton was landing the cleaner blows which seemed to win the judges over after 12 rounds of action.
Two of the three judges scored in Frampton's favour, with the third calling a draw.
"I had a dream of winning a world title," Frampton said in his post-fight interview.
"I never dreamed of winning two world titles in different divisions."
Frampton is hoping everyone will shout him a beer, saying: "Hopefully it means I won't have to buy a pint for the next 20 years."
With his win, Frampton is 23-0, while Santa Cruz's record slipped to 32-1-1.
