Amir Khan might be facing Manny Pacquaio after the Filipino's promoter suggested the fight in the Middle East
English boxer Amir Khan has been given the chance to fight Filipino boxer, Manny Pacquaio after Floyd Mayweather snubbed him to chose another opponent (Andre Berto) for his September fight.
According to Daily Mail, Khan will face Pacquiao who lost the famous May 2 bout with Mayweather, in the Middle East in early 2016.
The website reports that Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum will this week open talks with Khan's management to seal the fight.
Abu Dhabi has been reported to be the prefered destination of Arum.
"This kid Amir Khan keeps shooting his mouth off about Manny Pacquiao. I can arrange for Khan to fight Pacquiao," Arum said.
"Amir Khan has been begging Mayweather for a fight and now he can get a major fight. I'm not a hard guy to deal with. I'm not going to mess them around. Manny's not going to fight this year," he said.
"He'll fight early next year and probably in the Middle East. Vegas is a possibility, but more likely in the Middle East. It won't be in Dubai but it will be in the Middle East. If not, we'll do it in Vegas."
After undergoing surgery to correct a shoulder injury, Arum says Pacquiao is recovering well and will be ready to face Khan in early 2016.
"One thing's for sure, Pacquiao is not ducking Khan,' Arum said. 'Pacquiao will fight him. I don't know if Khan will fight Pacquiao, but it's available."
