Volkswagen's I.D. Crozz concept teases what we can expect in the production version arriving in 2020.

Volkswagen is going all in on electric vehicles.

The German automaker is releasing 23 all-electric models by 2025, a goal made in response to its emissions-cheating scandal. We got a taste of what's to come at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show when Volkswagen unveiled its I.D. Crozz concept.

The stunning red vehicle shows what we can expect in Volkswagen's production SUV that's arriving in 2020.

Behold, the I.D. Crozz! The concept is a crossover of an SUV and four-door coupe, Volkswagen says, painted in the company's "Hibiscus Red Metallic."

It looks fairly compact with a low-slung roof and giant wheels that cut into the vehicle's body. But Volkswagen said the interior is spacious because it removed the b-pillar, allowing it to install large swinging doors...

... Like so.

The SUV is equipped with large, narrow headlights that Volkswagen says "point the way towards production and generate an unmistakable light graphic."

The concept has a CleanAir system and menu that will display information about air quality inside the car.

The Tesla Model X has a similar feature called "bioweapon defense mode."

The I.D. Crozz is equipped with a high-performance battery that Volkswagen says can achieve a range of 500 kilometers (310 miles) when rated by the New European Driving Cycle.

It can also reach a top speed of 180 kilometers per hour (111 mph).

The battery can be charged to 80% capacity in just 30 minutes when using a fast-charging system, Volkswagen claims.

Volkswagen says the concept is also capable of driving autonomously and the feature can be activated by using the car's voice assistant.

A production version of the I.D. Crozz is slated to hit the market in 2020.
