UNILAG VS SEXUAL HARASSMENT (2)

The University of Lagos is wearing its boxing gloves. After suspending two senior lecturers for their involvement in the Sex For Grades documentary, the institution has set up a task force to address issues of sexual harassment. Somebody shout halleluyah! In a swift turn of events, UNILAG has implemented a fierce campaign against the ugly trend of sexual harassment and related offences. Here is a list of things the Task Force is authorised to do; It has the power to probe the University on its sexual harassment policies. It can receive complaints from faculties, departments and other units concerning such matters. It can sanction offenders If necessary it can put victims of abuse forward for counselling and therapy, and any other duties required to eliminate it from the institution The task force is expected to send a monthly report of its activities to the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe. The move is in line with its commitment to stamp out sexual harassment and related offences from its campuses, the university say. What else can Nigerian institutions to curb sexual harassment?
