South African ‘Arrested’ In Lagos Over Ebola Tests Negative

The female foreign national was apprehended at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport  in Lagos after showing symptoms of Ebola

The South African woman, who was taken into custody in Lagos over fears that she might have Ebola, has tested negative.

This was disclosed today, September 12, 2014 by the Minister of Health, Prof Onyebuchi Chukwu through his Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Dan Nwomeh.

The foreigner was apprehended at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos on arrival from Morocco after she filled a health form and admitted to having symptoms of the disease.

The woman in question had also been in Sierra Leone and Guinea, which are currently experiencing outbreaks of the disease.

The minister also reportedly added that the foreigner is still being investigated for other diseases.

Ebola was brought into Nigeria in July 2014 by Liberian-American, Patrick Sawyer.
