Despite how tough the year has been, the film industry did an applaudable job with distracting us from the listless woes with films, series and even reality shows.&nbsp;

In no particular order, Pulse list highlights five of the best television shows and web series that made 2020.&nbsp;

<h2>1.&nbsp;The Men’s Club (Season 3)</h2>

Red TV’s ‘The Men’s Club’ returned with a bang for its third season. Directed by Tola Odunsi, the web series premiered in June to impressive reviews.&nbsp;

Going by how frequently it trended, the show is arguably the biggest of the year. The new season fresh additions join the cast, some of which include Shaffy Bello, Nengi Adoki.

The debut season of Africa Magic’s epic drama, ‘Riona Fighting Fate’ premiered in September 2020, also to noteworthy reviews.&nbsp;

Set in ancient Itsekiri kingdom, the thrilling TV series produced by James Omokwe follows the story of a tyrant king who sets his kingdom on fire for his selfish interests.&nbsp;

Africa Magic’s ‘Enahke’ premiered alongside ‘Riona’ in September. The family drama based on a drug cartel and set in Benin lit up 2020 with its numerous exciting plot twists.&nbsp;

<h2>4. Skinny Girl In Transit ( Season 6)</h2>

Season six of Ndani TV’s web series ‘Skinny Girl In Transit’ was monumental for fans of the show.&nbsp;

The latest season debuted in February and became an instant favourite largely for how it drew fans into the life of its lead star, Tiwalade (Abimbola Craig) as a new bride. It also highlighted themes around marital pressures in its usual dramatic style.&nbsp;

Falz TheBahdGuy premiered a comedy series, ‘Therapy’ based on a newly married couple. The 10-episode series starred Toke Makinwa and the rapper alongside skit maker, Josh2funny and top stand-up comedian, Bovi.&nbsp; 'Therapy' made some meme-worthy moments of 2020.&nbsp;

‘The Milkmaid’ follows the touching story of two Fulani sisters who get kidnapped by insurgents.&nbsp;It stars Anthonieta Kalunta, Maryam Booth among others.

The Toyin Abraham produced comedy is so far the king of Nigerian box office with a reported gross earning of over a N100 million.

Directed by Kayode Kasum, the star-studded comedy continues the hilarious story of <a href="https://www.pulse.ng/entertainment/movies/fate-of-alakada-finally-gets-cinema-release-date/zs0bl10">Yetunde’s shenanigans but this time with Instagram skit maker, Broda Shaggi as an accomplice.&nbsp;</a>

‘Fate of Alakada’ is indisputably the most successful Nollywood cinema release of 2020. .&nbsp;

EbonyLife’s collaboration with Netflix, ‘Òlòtūré’ had quite an outstanding year. The film was selected by Netflix alongside an applaudable list of films and series to be spearheaded by the production company.&nbsp;

Interestingly, the Kenneth Gyang film not only made headlines for its impressive Netflix outing, <a href="https://www.pulse.ng/entertainment/movies/oloture-tactlessly-approaches-a-vital-tale-of-social-relevance-pulse-movie-review/dn0rmnv">it also had a major scandal hot on its heels</a>. As the movie fought to get the coveted Oscars’ Best International Feature Film spot, news that the story of an investigative journalist made the basis for the film nearly broke the internet. The journalist had called out Mo Abudu, the film’s executive producer, accusing her of copyright infringement.&nbsp;

Kunle Afolayan’s ‘Citation’ was thankfully released to way less drama. The highlights were of course, the Netflix original deal and the movie’s leading lady, Temi Otedola.&nbsp;

Otedola's debut acting performance had Twitter savvy Nigerians either crushing or critiquing.&nbsp;

<h2>5. Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story</h2>

Play Network Studios also got a good share of the movie buzz in 2020. For one, it was one of the most anticipated films of the year&nbsp;based on the success of the production company’s debut film, ‘Living In Bondage Breaking Free’.&nbsp;

The anticipated reboot of Amaka Igwe’s 1994 classic, ‘Rattlesnake’ was released in November to quite the fanfare and commercial success.

2020 has undoubtedly been ‘that’ year. With coronavirus testing us with the biggest global health crisis this generation ever saw, lockdowns soon became a thing all over the world. And how did we respond to the boredom and monotony of being trapped at home for months? Social media challenges! Loads and loads of them.

Now as the year races to an end, we bring you a round up of the best ones that Nigerians loved and vibed heavily with.

1. <a href="https://www.pulse.ng/lifestyle/fashion/dont-rush-challenge-videos/jyr3w0h">‘Don’t Rush’</a>

This viral challenge was one of the earliest and most interesting aspects of the worldwide lockdown. It started when in March, Toluwalase Asolo of the University of Hull posted a video of herself and her 7 friends passing make-up brushes and seamlessly changing from bland to glam looks. The song “Don’t Rush” by Young T &amp; Bugsey provided the backdrop for their 1:26minutes video and all other videos in the challenge that later grew like wildfire after theirs. 2. Flip The Switch

Drake’s ‘Nonstop,’ was the choice song for this challenge which involved a lot of interesting outfit and character switches. As soon as Drake sings “look, I just flipped a switch (Flipped, flipped),” the light goes off and comes back on in an instant to show that a swap has occurred during the transition.

3. ‘Wipe it down’

Another outfit-based challenge, propelled by its own song. This time, BMW Kenny’s ‘Wipe It Down’. Basically the video starts with someone wearing one outfit and as soon as they wipe down the mirror, their attire is completely transformed.

Think of this challenge as a Nigerianized version of the ‘Don’t Rush’ challenge. Although it began as Falz' male response to the 'Don't Rush' challenge, it was later jumped on by men and women alike.

As a result Falz’ single, ‘Bop Daddy’ enjoyed a very good run with this social media moment.

6. Duduke challenge

The Duduke challenge was a Nigerian challenge through and through. It began after singer Simi released the video of her baby song. The challenge saw people doing covers and making dance videos while cradling both real and unreal baby bumps. It is important to mention here that long after the initial challenge ended, Simi’s Duduke remains the go-to song for pregnancy shoots, baby deliveries and other baby-related themes.

7. ‘Don’t leave me’

Naija imported challenges but thanks to comedian Josh2Funny, we got to export one as well. This challenge is simple: make lame jokes with lousy word play, and then run or walk away from the camera while someone [typically the one recording the madness] runs after you with the chant of ‘Don’t Leave Me.’

This hilarious challenge had people participating from all over the world and being performed in various languages.

From this plethora of Nigerian football stars scattered worldwide, we write on the Nigerian football XI of the year for this Pulse Picks 2020 article.&nbsp;

This list shines a light on the Nigerian players who were the best in their position in 2020.&nbsp;

Daniel Akpeyi had a decent year with Kaizer Chiefs (Twitter/PSL)

The stark absence of quality in the Nigerian goalkeeping unit at this very moment is staggering. No one stood out from the host of names we can come up with,. Yet for the sake of this list, we have to pick one: the pick, Daniel Akpeyi.&nbsp;

Akpeyi was the best Nigerian goalkeeper of 2019 in Pulse's end of the year list, and he continued with that form into 2020.&nbsp;

<a href="https://www.pulse.ng/sports/football/daniel-akpeyis-masterclass-in-the-soweto-derby-means-so-much/xnktfvh">The Nigeria international was in top form for Kaizer Chiefs</a> who were in an excellent position to win the 2019/2020 South African Premier Division title. A drop in form for Akpeyi and the whole Kaizer Chiefs after the league restart in August 2020, saw the club lose out on the title to Mamelodi Sundowns.&nbsp;

Despite the loss in form, Akpeyi continues to be the first choice goalkeeper at Chiefs and same for the Super Eagles at least for now when fit.&nbsp;

Ola Aina has started life well in the Premier League

After a tough second season in Italy with Torino, Ola Aina moved to the Premier League with Fulham.&nbsp;

So far in England, Aina has been consistent with his performances and has a Goal of the Month award to his name already. These two reasons make him the candidate for his position. He edges Tyronne Ebuehi who is gradually getting to his best at Twente.&nbsp;

Central defence&nbsp;

Semi Ajayi has been solid in the Premier League (Twitter/West Brom)

No Nigerian central defender has been more consistent in 2020 than Semi Ajayi. He was impressive in the latter part of 2020 when he aided the Baggies back to the Premier League.&nbsp;

He has been almost faultless although West Brom have struggled with life at the top flight.&nbsp;

<h2>Leon Balogun (Wigan/Rangers)&nbsp;</h2>

Leon Balogun had a strong year after playing his way back into reckoning. He kicked off the year by joining Wigan where he started to get games after struggling to get game time in the Premier League with Brighton.&nbsp;

The pandemic-enforced break halt his progress, but he joined Scottish side Rangers in the summer and has been a key player.&nbsp;

For the Super Eagles, he has also been involved in all games in 2020.&nbsp;

<h2>Zaidu Sanusi (Santa Clara/Porto)</h2>

Zaidu Sanusi had a big year in 2020. After 21 appearances for Santa Clara in Portugal, he got a big move to giants Porto where he has also been fantastic.&nbsp;

Sanusi also had a decent Champions League group campaign where he scored a goal.&nbsp;&nbsp;

For years, Leicester City star Wilfred Ndidi has been one of the best defensive midfielders in the world, little surprise he's on this list.&nbsp;

Ndidi in 2020 was colossus again, balling out as Leicester City punched above their weights for most of the 2019/2020 season.&nbsp;

Although a long injury lay-out has limited him, the 24-year-old is back and continues to show why he is the best in his position.&nbsp;

Joe Aribo is an important player for Rangers (Rangers)

Since he became a Nigeria international, Joe Aribo has continued to improve his game. In 2020, the improvement was evident with his contributions for Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.&nbsp;

He made 25 starts in Rangers' 29 league games of the 2019/2020 season. This season, he has four goals in eight games and one of the first picks in the Super Eagles squad.&nbsp;

<h2>Frank Onyeka (FC Midtjylland)&nbsp;</h2>

Frank Onyeka came into prominence in 2020 following his impressive season in Denmark. He was very instrumental in FC Midtjylland's title win, dropping fine performances in a couple of midfield roles and was duly awarded the Club's Player of the Year award.&nbsp;

This season, he has continued in that stride and performed reasonably well in the Champions League group stage where he made more tackles plus interceptions more than any other player.&nbsp;

Onyeka also made his Super Eagles debut in 2020.&nbsp;

One of Nigeria's best players before a shoulder injury forced him out of action in early November. 2020 saw Osimhen become one of the most expensive footballers following his €71.2m move from <a href="https://www.pulse.ng/sports/football/the-full-story-of-victor-osimhens-record-move-to-napoli/hcff6rv">Lille to Napoli</a>.&nbsp;

His move came after his fantastic showing in Lille where he scored 18 goals in 38 appearances.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He won the Club's Player of the Year award, he was included in Ligue 1's Team of the Season and won the 2020 Prix Marc-Vivien Foé, the award for the best African player in Ligue 1.

It's solely on his strong showing in the latter part of 2020 that the striker makes this list.&nbsp;

<h2>Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City)&nbsp;</h2>

Kelechi Iheanacho struggled for a couple of seasons after making a move to Leicester City. He was looking like he didn't belong on that level before 2020.&nbsp;

This year, the Nigerian has delivered for most of the time he has gotten chances to play.&nbsp;

He made some fine performances in the league and League Cup at the beginning of the year and was arguably Leicester City's player during Project Restart.&nbsp;

Victor Osimhen had an excellent 2020 although much of what he achieved in the 2019/2020 season at Lille happened in 2019. Still, the striker remains one of Nigeria's best players.&nbsp;

He ended the 2019/2020 season with 18 goals in 38 appearances and also won the Club's Player of the Year.

He was included in Ligue 1's Team of the Season and won the 2020 Prix Marc-Vivien Foé which is the award for the best African player in Ligue 1.

In 2020, he also got a big move to Serie A side <a href="https://www.pulse.ng/sports/football/the-full-story-of-victor-osimhens-record-move-to-napoli/hcff6rv">Napoli</a> where he started well before a shoulder injury sidelined him since early November.&nbsp;

Wilfred Ndidi has been the most consistent and best Nigerian player in the last five years. Since he joined Premier League in January 2017, the midfielder has grown to become one of the best players in his position in the world, not just Nigeria.&nbsp;

In 2020, he continued in that stride. With his elite ball-winning abilities, the 24-year-old impressed again for Leicester City who for most of the 2019/2020 season punched above their weights with a battle for a top-four finish.

<a href="https://www.pulse.ng/sports/football/leicester-city-midfielder-wilfred-ndidi-returns-to-action-after-2-months-out-with/xr4v9m6">An injury layoff</a> has limited his impact in the latter part of 2020, but he has impressed again since he made his recent return.&nbsp;

Simy Nwankwo in 2020 was one of Nigeria's best strikers. He tore the Serie B-second division in Italy-apart with 20 goals which made him finish as <a href="https://www.pulse.ng/sports/football/simy-nwankwo-on-target-as-crotone-wins-in-serie-b/e302ghw">top scorer of the division</a> in the 2019/2020 season.&nbsp;

The lanky striker offered so much upfront for Crotone in that season and scored different types of goals-from headers to sitters. His goals also helped Crotone return to the top flight where they are struggling.&nbsp;

Zaidu Sanusi might have come into prominence in the latter part of 2020, but the left-back has been fantastic all through the year.&nbsp;

2020 was a good year for the 23-year-old. The defender made 21 league appearances for Santa Clara who managed a decent ninth-place in the Primeira Liga. His performances in that season were good enough to attract Portugues giant Porto who got the Nigerian to replace Brazilian Alex Telles who made a move to Manchester United.&nbsp;

For Porto, Sanusi has been brilliant, putting in fine performances and <a href="https://www.pulse.ng/sports/football/zaidu-sanusi-gets-a-champions-league-goal-for-porto-to-continue-his-impressive/j1sfzfd">also excelling in Champions League night</a>.&nbsp;

In 2020, he also made his debut for the Super Eagles and has quickly established himself as the first-choice in the left-back role.&nbsp;

It's time to give Semi Ajayi his flowers. The central defender has been decent for a couple of years, but in 2020, his career experienced a lift. Starting from the previous year, Ajayi had a solid season for West Brom who secured promotion to the Premier League.&nbsp;

Ajayi enjoyed a fine partnership at the back with Kyle Bartley. An imposing centre back, the Nigerian showed composure and solidity at the back.

Despite his slight frame, the Nigerian played with a remarkable turn of pace and was also dominant in the air.

He also chipped in five goals in the league to finish as the joint-sixth scorer at West Brom, and some of these goals came in pivotal moments for Slaven Bilic's side including the second goal in their 2-0 win over Luton in February.

Ajayi's goal in that game came when West Brom was under pressure as Luton pressed for an equaliser. He doubled the lead to secure a win for West Brom after a seven-game winless run.

In the Premier League this season, <a href="https://www.pulse.ng/sports/football/super-eagles-defender-semi-ajayi-was-in-top-form-and-forced-an-own-goal-as-west-brom/xttyjdk">the 27-year-old has been decent so far</a>. Although West Brom are struggling, the Nigerian has continued to put in fine individual performances.&nbsp;

After making his name in Denmark, Paul Onuachu moved to Belgian to play in a considerably more competitive league in 2019. He couldn't replicate his Denmark form in Belgium in that first season, but he did manage to score nine goals in 22 league games.&nbsp;
