<h1>Queens Park Rangers midfielder Ebere Eze has been identified by Tottenham as the player to replace Christian Eriksen who left to join Inter in the January transfer window.&nbsp;</h1>

Eze who is still eligible to play for the Super Eagles of Nigeria has caught the eye with his performances in the Championship this season.&nbsp;

According to Football London, Spurs chairman, Daniel Levy sees the 21-year-old creator as the player to replace Eriksen.&nbsp;

The exit of the Dane has left a void in midfield which Levyu feels Eze has the abilities to fill.&nbsp;

In 37 league games so far this season, the midfielder has 12 goals and eight assists for Queens Park Rangers.

He has had a couple of admirers in the Premier League in recent years and Tottenham have joined that list.&nbsp;

Born in London to Nigerian parents, Eze has been a target for the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) who are trying to get him to switch his allegiance to Nigeria.&nbsp;

Although he has played for England in the youth levels, the midfielder is still eligible to play for Nigeria.&nbsp;

He once trained with the Super Eagles and has<a data-link-role-code="none" href="https://www.pulse.ng/sports/football/nff-boss-amaju-pinnick-meets-with-england-born-midfielder-ebere-eze-to-discuss-his/zj35wb8"> also met the top brass of the NFF</a> in November 2019 to discuss playing for the Super Eagles.&nbsp;

Ebere Eze has had a couple of admiring clubs from the Premier League including Tottennham.

<h1>President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has revealed that he is after England-born Ebere Eze to improve the Super Eagles squad.&nbsp;</h1>

Pinnick on Saturday, November 23, 2019, <a data-link-role-code="none" href="https://www.pulse.ng/sports/football/nff-boss-amaju-pinnick-meets-with-england-born-midfielder-ebere-eze-to-discuss-his/zj35wb8" rel="noopener noreferrer">met Eze in London to discuss his international future.</a>&nbsp;

The NFF want the midfielder who has played for the England youth sides to switch his allegiance to Nigeria.&nbsp;

Pinnick says he wants to boost Nigeria’s midfield options with the Queens Park-Rangers player for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.&nbsp;

"We need to make a solid representation at Qatar 2022 and it starts with improving on your squad with quality players like Eze," the NFF boss told BBC Sport.&nbsp;

"Can you imagine a midfield with (Wilfred) Ndidi, (Joe) Aribo, (Oghenekaro) Etebo and Eze? it is one that will improve our squad."

Pinnick also says that the midfielder asked for time to focus on his club career before deciding on his international future.&nbsp;

"I am confidently hopeful that he will play for Nigeria soon,” Pinnick also said.&nbsp;

Eze has impressed this season in the Championship with Queens Park-Rangers with seven goals and provided four assists so far this season.&nbsp;

He is the latest foreign-born player who the NFF are working hard to poach for the Super Eagles of Nigeria.&nbsp;

The NFF under Pinnick have successfully convinced several foreign-born players including Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina, Tyronne Ebuehi among others to switch their allegiances to Nigeria.

There have also been some unsuccessful attempts with Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham <a data-link-role-code="none" href="https://www.pulse.ng/sports/football/tammy-abraham-nff-are-going-after-english-player-for-super-eagles/s8v9fcb" rel="noopener noreferrer">being the most popular example</a>.

Pinnick announced that the striker had agreed to switch to Nigeria, a claim the player denied. He has since made his competitive debut for England.

Pinnick also says he does not regret meeting the midfielder.

Although born in England, Eze is of Nigerian descent and in July 2017 trained with the Super Eagles.&nbsp;

Since then, however, he has played for the England U20 and U21s but yet to make a senior appearance for any side which has left his international future open.&nbsp;

That has left his international allegiance a subject of speculation and Pinnick on Saturday met with him in London to try and get him to play for Nigeria.&nbsp;

According to the NFF, Pinnick was at Craven Cottage to watch Eze in action as Queens Park Rangers were beaten 2-1 away by Fulham.&nbsp;

The next day, the NFF boss hosted the midfielder at his London home to discuss his international future.&nbsp;

“Yesterday Eze also visited President Pinnick in the latter’s London home,” NFF revealed on Twitter.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“During discussions, the player was informed of the President’s desire, which echoes that of many Nigerians to see Ebere Eze switch allegiance and start playing his international football for Nigeria.”&nbsp;

“Talks are ongoing but the player has requested for the chance to continue to focus on his club career which is going well so far and that further progress will be made in due course,” the NFF also added.&nbsp;
