Singer’s album listening live performance was remarkable as it was breathtaking

Omawonder better known as Omawumi was the special guest headliner at the inaugural edition of the new Trace live music event held on Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the new Terra Kulture Arena, Lagos.

The date also marks the release of her third studio album “Timeless”.

Right at the centre of the pathway to the hall where the show was to be held was a magnificent portrait of her.

The ‘singer emerged in a colorful long flowery gown that hid her short glowing dress right beneath.

The show started with a documentary video on screen about her music video that described her musical journey, with her label, manager and producer speaking of how awesome an artist she is.

Omawumi and her “Thenotimeband” kicked off with ‘Megbele’ before delving into songs on the album.

Love, relationships and socially conscious issues are themes making up the album as she explains the concept behind some of the songs.

‘Butterflies’ her second single off the album she explains was created when she was pregnant going to about 8 months, and still went ahead to fly to meet Cobhams in Houston USA to produce the song.

A song titled ‘Dolapo’ was a pretty interesting one, which she said she wrote based on one of her husband’s ex-girlfriend.

A socially conscious backed song ‘The matter’ was beautifully rendered but the sober nature of the song made it quite uneasy to just get up and groove to the melody of the music.

Another song off the album ‘Through the fire’ was inspired by her determination to pull through discouraging times about her music career.

Through this, Omawumi pricked the mind of the audience on the need to be more alert about the issues facing us a nation.

The sound and the production was all perfected as far as the show was concerned.

Omawumi also dedicated a love song ‘Ololufe’ to her husband who was present, describing the inspiration behind the song as a  cover of  Fela Kuti, the one love song the legend ever made.

Omawumi shone like a true star on the stage, dancing, teasing and caressing with her bod, cracking jokes here and there, amidst the sober talk.

She performed a couple of her other pop songs ‘Play na play’, and ‘If you ask me’ among others.

Omawumi made it known that the audience that every song on the album tells a story as she playfully asked the audience to drop huge sums in millions to support and encourage her.

Some of the fellow industry mates that came and showed support for the singer include Timi Dakolo,Ebisan, Waje, Naeto C, Jazzman Olofin, Sasha, Tiwa Savage and of course Cobhams Asuquo.

Omawumi and her band were brilliantly entertaining on the night as she proceeded with a curtain call after her last performance, which followed with a round of applause.

“Timeless” produced entirely by Cobhams is an album to get your hands on, as Omawumi put her best foot forward on the project. The Trace Live showcase proved this so well.
