It is no longer news that Uruguay's top scorer at the World Cup, Luis Suarez has been sanctioned for the unprofessional conduct he displayed in the game against Italy.
The player has been punished with a four months ban from all football related matters and compulsory exclusion from nine international matches involving the Uruguayan team.
With this ban, the player is not expected to play football again until August, especially for his club Liverpool who kick off their English Premiership campaign against Southampton on August 16.
As the ban states, Suarez will not play in the 2014 FIFA World Cup last 16 clash between Uruguay and Colombia and he is also not allowed to watch the game or any other football match from the stands until the four months elapses.
Several reactions have followed the ban, the most striking one coming from the victim of the bite incident in the Italian game; Giorgio Chiellini.
Chiellini's biting incident is not the first Suarez's journey to FIFA sanction; he bit Otman Bakkal during his time at Ajax, he also bit Branislav Ivanovic of Chelsea and he has never been punished so severely as FIFA did.
''it is an assault on the poor,'' Uruguay's president said reacting to the ban; ''He is a natural rebel and expresses his anger naturally.'' President Jose Mujica said this regarding his compatriot.
Argentine great Diego Amando Maradona - a no strnager to controversy - known to be a rival of FIFA also spoke in defence of the player: ''The FIFA sanction is shameful, theyu have no sensitivitty to towards the fans.'' Maradona went ahead to say that ''Suarez didn't kill anyone,'' he also went ahead to call FIFA ''an incredible Mafia''
The biting victim Giorgio Chiellini shared his sympathy with the player:''My only thought is for Luis and his family.
''I believe that the proposed formula is excessive. I sincerely hope that he will be allowed, at least, to stay close to his team-mates.''
Chiellini pleads ''Such a ban is really alienating for a player,'' The Italian defender revealed that he feels no ''joy, revenge or anger against Suarez.''
Brazillian player Fred called it ''A fight for space,'' stemming from goosebumps. He also thinks that the punishment is ''a bit severe,'' even though he admits that Suarez deserves to be punished.
Players and fans have reacted, the Uruguayan Football Association have confirmed they will appeal the ban.
People in the house have spoken; many support that the punishment was deserving while some share sympathy that it is too severe, what do you all think about it?
