Starboy Entertainment CEO and EME singer Wizkid revealed yesterday that he intends to drop 3 musical compilations in 365 days. The singer revealed this on an online talk show, “The Truth”, with Olisa Adibua.
For Wizkid, the first of the three albums is the long overdue one with Empire Mates Entertainment. After last year's debacle over contract renegotiation with the people from Banky W's Empire, the act has one more album to drop under that label, and he rightly wants to get that wrapped up soonest. The album already has hit songs, with 'Bombay', 'Joy', 'Show You The Money', and others already a fan favorite.
The omen looks good for that one. Wizkid has been with Banky W for 5 years, grown into the brand that he is now, and made insane money for the investors. Now he has leave to sail free, and his last act of repayment will be a mega album. The only reason why that album is not out is because of confusion. Wizkid has immense talent, which has been put to good use with plenty of recorded songs. He is yet to make up his mind on the final collection to give to EME.
Next up for him will be to concentrate and strengthen his personal business: Starboy Entertainment.
To do that he needs to make a statement to announce the independence of his business. That's why his advisers are of the opinion that he should release a Mixtape. He has announced that yesterday too, and it's exciting to think about what the EP promises. The current Starboy acts – Maleek Berry, the duo of Legendury Beatz, and L.A.X – will have to step their game up for maximum effect. Breath-taking songs are to be on that mixtape, and surely we can' wait.
After the Mixtape comes the album. A proper compilation of songs with a musical direction and composition that will go down in history as the first official album of Starboy. This album will premiere in 2014, and its success depends chiefly on the success of all his musical work, calculated branding and PR leading to it.
