Legends battle it out at the Old Lady's home ground
France 98 World Cup winner Zidane entered the dressing room in the colours of Juventus and Real Madrid in one night; two teams he played for in the days of his career, he retired at Madrid.
Real Madrid and Juventus Legends locked horns against each other in the UNESCO Cup played at the home ground of the old lady, Juventus on Monday evening.
Former France captain Zidane left Juventus for Real Madrid in a £46million deal back in 2001 and still maintains his loyalty and respect for the two clubs. He played in the jerseys of the two giants in a night that brought Seedorf, Pavel Nedved, Claude Makelele and other legends from the two club-sides together in a relishing moment of past football memories.
Dutch midfielder Clarence Seedorf, won three Champions League winners' medals with Real, Ajax and AC Milan during a glittering career, and he scored a delightful volley for the team in white.
Though the majority of players who appeared at the Juventus Stadium Monday night are now managers but they showed they can still play against the younger lads of today if they wanted to, in an entertaining game. Zidane is the assistant coach at Real Madrid, and Clarence Seedorf is the manager at AC Milan.
Morientes opened scoring for Madrid, when he headed in a Christian Karembeu cross into the net and then later Zidane doubled the lead in the first half before switching over to 'the old lady' club in the second half. Alessio Tacchinardi pulled one back for the Italians before the end of the first 45 minutes.
AC Milan manager Seedorf netted the third for Madrid in the second half before Reuben De La Red and Enrique Velasco made it 4 and 5 respectively. It ended Madrid 5, Juventus 1.
Money raised from the match will be used in a global research into the problem of Racism and discrimination in sport.
