Michael Essien Rejoins Black Stars For Germany Clash

The game against Germany is a 'must win' for the Ghanaians who would kissing the tournament goodbye if they loose

Michael Essien will play against Germany in their Group G second match as the midfielder has returned to full training with the Black stars.

31-year-old missed the team's Wednesday training, given the injury he suffered in their 2-1 loss to the USA in their first Grouo G match. The Bison as he is fondly called resumed partial training with the team on Thursday but is now fully involved in the practise session as the team looks to overcome Joachim Low's Germany when the two teams meet on June 21.

The Ac Milan midfielder who came in as substitute against USA, is favoured to start in the game that would see two brothers lock horns against each other on opposing sides: Schalke's Kevin Prince Boateng will face his brother Jerome Boateng who chose to play for the Germans than his paternal home country of Ghana.

Ghanaians questioned National team coach of the side Kwesi Appiah who completes the only two African coaches in the World Cup after Nigerian Stephen Keshi, for not starting Essien and Kevin Prince Boateng in the first game against USA.

"It's not going to be easy to qualify from the group, but we'll give everything to do just that.

"We're going to have to play well against Germany and I know we'll give them a good game," Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah

The game against Germany is a must win for the West Africans; anything short of a victory will either kick them out of the tournament or place at a disdvantage against Portugal in their last game, Germany defeated the Portuguese 4-0 in the first match.
