MacGregor who was caddying for Alastair Forsyth of Scotland, collapsed and died, after suffering an apparent heart attack.

"It is with great sadness and deep regret that we report the untimely passing of caddie Ian MacGregor during play on the final day of the Madeira Islands Open," a statement by The European Tour read in part.

The tournament, eventually won by Daniel Brooks, was initially suspended but resumed later after consultations.
