Super Eagles winger Samuel Kalu excited to join struggling Watford

The 24-year-old forward wants to achieve 'greater' things in the Premier League.

Super Eagles of Nigeria forward Samuel Kalu has stated that he is excited to join Premier League outfit, Watford.

Kalu joins Watford until 2025 from French Ligue 1 outfit FC Girondins de Bordeaux.

The 24-year-old took to his official Instagram account to celebrate the move.

Along with photos of his unveiling was a caption that said, "Super excited to be signed to the club I have always admired in the Premier League “ @watfordfcofficial “

"it’s an honor for me to be here. I will put in as much work as possible to contribute to the success of the club together with you all.

"Looking forward to achieving greater things with this amazing club. One love to the amazing fans of @watfordfcofficial."

In an interview on the official Watford website, Kalu stated that he has been following the club since the time of Odion Ighalo.

Kalu said, “When I heard about the opportunity I was feeling grateful.

“It’s one of my dreams to play in the Premier League, this is what I want. I will be here to give my best.

“I followed the club a couple of years ago when Odion Ighalo was here. This club is a very good club and has a lot of good foundations.

Kalu joins five Nigerian players at Watford and is delighted to get on the pitch with his compatriots.

He said, “I know [Emmanuel] Dennis very well, and [William] Troost-Ekong, we played together at Gent. I also know [Peter] Etebo, we’ve played together in the national team.

“They will help me a lot. I saw Dennis and Etebo and they were very happy to see me. I know they are going to help me settle at the club.”

Kalu is expected to make his Watford debut when the Hornets travel to face Burnley in a Premier League fixture scheduled for Saturday, February 5, 2022.
