Nigerian midfielder Bonke Innocent happy to join Terem Moffi at Lorient

Bonke signed a deal that will keep him at Lorient until 2025.

Nigerian defensive midfielder Bonke Innocent has joined French Ligue 1 side FC Lorient.

Bonke joined Lorient from Sweden league giants Malmo. The 25-year-old signed a deal with Lorient until June 2025.

The Kaduna State-born midfielder has stated that he is delighted to have made the move to Lorient.

In a statement on the Lorient website, Bonke said, "I am delighted to be making a long-term commitment to FC Lorient. Joining the French Ligue 1 is an important step in my career and I am looking forward to the challenge that the leaders of Lorient have offered me."

Moffi then revealed in joining another Nigerian in Terem Moffi at Lorient will be good for his adaptation at the club.

He added, "The fact of reuniting with Terem Moffi , another Nigerian international, makes me extremely happy. It was revealed to the general public last season and I intend to draw inspiration from it to perform well in my new colours.

"I can't wait to meet my teammates, the staff and get to work to achieve the goals set by the club."

Bonke is set to be ready for his debut when Lorient take on travel to face Nantes in a French Ligue 1 fixture scheduled for Sunday, January 23, 2022.
