Joseph Yobo Set For A Milestone With 100 Caps

Defender Joseph Yobo will become the first Nigerian to win 100 caps if he is picked for the World Cup Group F decider against Argentina on Wednesday.

Nigerian football Captain Joseph Philip Yobo, started is footballing career with Micheline Port harcourt 1996-1998, then moved to Europe in 1998where he played for Everton of England in 2003-2012. He then moved to Fenerbahce of Turkey on loan, but  is now with Norwich city of English premier league.

After making his international debut in Spring 2001, 34 year old Joseph Yobo played in the Super Eagles' three matches[5] in Japan and South Korea 2002.

He was also part of the Nigerian squad for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, after which he assumed the Eagles' captaincy on the retirement of Kanu Nwankwo .

He was called up to Nigeria's 23-man squad for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and then went on to win the competition when nigeria beat  Burkino Faso 1 nil, and despite s as a substitute went on to lift the trophy.

Yobo has so far played a supportive role in ensuring that the super eagles recover from their draw against iran to beat bosnia. and says that says ensuring Nigeria makes the last 16 is his focus and not the personal record.

He said in a statement from the Nigeria Football Federation that the milestone was "good news" but "what is uppermost in my mind is for the team to win and for us to advance to the next stage. The rest will be a bonus."
