Team Nigeria to get 1,000,000 naira each for Gold medal won

Team avoids public embarassment in Glasgow 2014 Welcome party

The Nigerian contingents to the 20th Commonweath games have received a mouth-watering offer of 1 000,000 Naira ($7,000) each for any gold won by any athlete in any of the six events they are taking part.

The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC)Hon. Tunde Elegbeleye announced this to the athletes in their Glasgow games village.

The move was done to motivate the team which had been left in doubts and psychological immobility as they were denied an early preparation, then later a late arrival in the kits they were to use for the games.

According to reports, the Nigeria Wrestling team on arrival was dressed in the apparels bought them by the Nigerian Wrestling Federation President, Daniel Igali to personally cover the expenses for the kits; an event which saved the Nigerian delegation the embarrassment of been left out.

The athletes assured the DG of good performances and commitment.

The silver and bronze Medallists will also be rewarded with and respectively.
