McGregor's rise to the top of the UFC came to a dramatic end on Sunday, March 6 as he was .

But just as Diaz appeared out on his feet, the American stunned McGregor with a straight left before forcing the overwhelming favourite into submission via a rear naked choke.

Despite the loss, McGregor was seen at partying with his girlfriend, Dee Devlin, coaches coaches John Kavanagh and Owen Roddy as well as training partner Artem Lobov.

He was seen taking photos with fans as Holly Holm, who lost her bantamweight title to Miesha Tate on the same UFC 196 card, also stopped by.

“'I'm going to have a drink and celebrate. There's been a lot of historical moments, and this is another one,” McGregor said after the loss.

“Adversity helps you grow and what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”
