Unicaja halt Bilbao's winning streak in Liga ACB

Unicaja ended Bilbao's winning streak to stay top of Liga ACB, allowing Barcelona to move up to fourth on Sunday.

Unicaja bounced back from their overtime loss at Barcelona last week with an 86-74 victory over Bilbao with Ryan Toolson and Carlos Suarez leading the way.

Toolson (18 points) and Suarez (16) inspired Unicaja at home, halting Bilbao's winning streak at four matches, which saw the Basque club drop to fifth in the Liga ACB standings.

Bilbao (12-5 win-loss record) fell below Barcelona (12-5) due to the Catalan club's superior points difference.

An impressive second quarter saw Unicaja to victory with the home side outscoring Bilbao by 10 points to lead 41-34 at half-time.

Unicaja then edged Bilbao out over the next two quarters to secure their 14th win of the season.

The Malaga-based team lead the Liga ACB standings with a 14-3 record ahead of Real Madrid (13-4), who defeated La Bruixa d'Or 83-66.

Joventut Badalona (13-4) remain third after a 75-64 victory over Sevilla on Saturday, while Barcelona trumped MoraBanc Andorra 71-56 on Sunday to move into fourth ahead of Bilbao.

Herbalife Gran Canaria secured a seventh consecutive triumph in all competitions, prevailing 79-63 over Tuenti Movil Estudiantes, while Valencia cruised past Montakit Fuenlabrada 89-76.

In other results, Laboral Kutxa won 85-77 against Rio Natura Monbus, Iberostar Tenerife edged UCAM Murcia 78-72 and CAI Zaragoza defeated Gipuzkoa 76-61.
