Two past Tournament of Champions winners advanced to the quarter-finals of the 2015 edition in New York on Monday.
Last year's runner-up Gregory Gaultier continued his bid for his first Tournament of Champions title since 2009, while 2012 winner Nick Matthew also advanced to the last eight on Monday.
France's Gaultier cruised past Tom Richards of England to qualify for the quarter-finals in New York, winning 11-6 11-5 11-2.
It was the former champion's second consecutive victory in three games, after Gaultier accounted for Max Lee in the opening round of the PSA World Tour event.
Gaultier will face Miguel Angel Rodriguez in the quarter-finals after the Colombian defeated Peter Barker 11-6 8-11 11-13 11-9 11-7.
With 2014 champion Amr Shabana of Egypt already in the quarter-finals, Gaultier joined his nemisis from last year, while England's Matthew also progressed on the third day of action.
Gaultier has lost the past two finals in New York.
Matthew lost the first game but recovered to defeat Egypt's Omar Mosaad 7-11 15-13 11-6 13-11 in a tight encounter.
Germany's Simon Rosner triumphed in Monday's fourth match, recovering from dropping the first game against Mathieu Castagnet to progress.
Castagnet edged out Rosner in the first game but the latter went on to win 11-13 11-5 11-5 11-6.
