Russell Wilson will not miss any time if he can help it.

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has confirmed that an MRI exam on Monday revealed the quarterback sustained a sprained MCL in his left knee during the win over the San Francisco 49ers.

Nonetheless, NFL.com report the team is optimistic that Wilson will be ready to play on Sunday on the road against the New York Jets.

"He's in good spirits, just like you would think," Carroll said on KIRO-AM. "He has no intention of thinking anything other than that he's playing."

The injury was sustained when Wilson was sacked in the third quarter by 49ers linebacker Eli Harold, who fell onto his leg and caused the knee to bend awkwardly.

Although Wilson finished the series, back-up Trevone Boykin entered the game in his place on Seattle's next possession with the Seahawks holding a 27-3 lead.

The team eventually escaped with a 37-18 victory against their NFC West rivals without their first-choice QB, moving to 2-1 for the season.

"I don't think it's severe as it looked," Wilson said after the game. "I have good mobility. You always feel better when you win."

Wilson, who has been battling a right ankle injury since Week 1, threw for 233 yards in the first half and finished 15 from 23 for 243 yards and a touchdown overall. He has yet to miss a start in his five-year NFL career.
