Cycling time trials are among the highlights on what promises to be a captivating day five at the Olympic Games on Wednesday.

Japanese gymnast Kohei Uchimura will attempt to defend his individual all-round title on Wednesday, while the women's table tennis final will be contested and another four swimming gold medals will be won.

The magnificent Uchimura won gold in the men's team final at Rio Olympic Arena on Monday and it would be a turn up for the books if he fails to take the individual all-around title two days later.

Ten-time world champion Uchimura has won every individual all-around gold medal since 2009 and will be expected to top the podium once again in Brazil.

Uchimura racked up a massive bill for playing Pokemon Go in the Olympic village and fell from the high bar in preliminary qualifying on Saturday on what has so far been an eventful Games for the 27-year-old.

Chris Froome missed out on a medal in a dramatic men's road race on Saturday, but the three-time Tour de France winner will be expected to mount a stronger challenge in the time trial.

The Brit won bronze at his home Games in London and showed his time-trial prowess by winning stage 18 of the Tour last month, but faces strong competition over the 54.6 kilometre course.
