Emiliano Grillo faces an anxious wait to see if he will be able to compete in the Olympic golf competition after his clubs went missing en route to Brazil.

The Argentine has been in good form heading into Rio 2016 with four top-15 finishes in his last six events on the PGA Tour, including a tie for 13th at the US PGA Championship.

Grillo is part of a two-man Argentina team along with Fabian Gomez for the return of golf at the Olympics.

He is in danger of missing the tournament which begins on Thursday, though, after arriving in Brazil without his clubs.

"@AmericanAir delays, rerouting and 20+ calls can't find my golf bag. I am going to miss my chance to compete in the Olympics. @Rio2016," he posted on Twitter.

"@AmericanAir seriously, find me a human in JFK, MIA or Sao Paolo that can physically look for my bag and confirm where it is and send it.

"@LATAMAirlinesUS @LATAM_BRA need to help as well, 2 flights are yours. I am going to miss playing in @Rio2016 because can't locate my clubs."

An angry Grillo then posted a poll to his followers asking them to guess where his clubs had ended up.

The world number 39 was drawn alongside Patrick Reed and Sergio Garcia for the opening two rounds of the golf competition.
