Nigeria's national men's basketball team, D'Tigers, have bowed out of the Rio 2016 Olympics following their 86-69 loss to Brazil at the Carioca Arena 1 on Monday, August 15.

After the D'Tigers proved strong to win the first quarter 16-15, their hope to make to the quarter finals rose, but was soon dashed by the Brazilians as they won remaining three quarters.

D'Tigers had defeated Croatia and had narrow defeats against Spain and Lithuania, but were heartbreakingly sent home by the hosts.

The Nigerian side would have been the first African team to win two games at the Olympics if they defeated Brazil.

Akognon Josh was the top performer for D’Tigers with 16 points while Uzoh Ben also did well with 15 points.
