Playing Pokemon Go left Kohei Uchimura with a huge phone bill ahead of the Olympic Games in Rio.
Five-time Olympic medallist Kohei Uchimura received a surprise phone bill of £3,700 ahead of Rio 2016 after playing Pokemon Go.
Gymnast Uchimura - who won all-round gold in London 2012 - was part of the Japanese squad that arrived in Brazil last month to begin their preparations for the games, and the 27-year-old played the game in his spare time.
Having played the game for a week Uchimura - a six-time all-around world champion - had racked up a huge bill due to the roaming charges.
"500,000 yen (£3,700)," he told Kyodo News when asked the amount on his bill.
After receiving the bill, team-mate Kenzo Shirai said the gold medal favourite in Rio "looked dead at the team meal that day".
Luckily for Uchimura, his mobile phone company agreed to waive the bill after he insisted he did not know what he was doing, and set him up with a daily flat rate deal.
"I really lucked out," he added.
