Simone Biles roundly dominated the women's gymnastics all-around to rack up her second gold medal of Rio 2016.

Biles led Team USA to the team all-around title on day four of the games and was head and shoulders above all competitors on Thursday.

With a final score of 62.198, Biles became the first reigning world champion to win the event since Ukraine's Lilia Podkopayeva in the 1996 Atlanta Games.

The 19-year-old - world champion in all-around, balance beam and floor - ensured that the women's event would not have the nail-biting finale which saw Kohei Uchimura win by 0.099 of a point 24 hours previously.

Biles' winning margin was 2.1 points ahead of Aly Raisman, with Russia's Aliya Mustafina taking the bronze in a tight battle behind the Americans.

The floor routines for Biles and Raisman sealed the deal for their 1-2 finish. Biles was flawless in her floor, earning the highest score of the day (15.933) and becoming emotional after she realised she won gold.

Raisman entered the final rotation needing a 14.000 or better to move past Mustafina for silver. Her double pike Arabian was crisp, solid and she did not waver with her landing, ending the day with a stellar 15.433 in her best event and walking off the floor with happy tears in her eyes.

The last time USA went 1-2 in the all-around was in the 2008 Beijing Olympics with Nastia Luikin and Shawn Johnson.
