Canberra Raiders prop David Shillington has avoided a suspension for his headbutt on Wests Tigers forward Aaron Woods.

Shillington was sent off late in Canberra's 20-18 loss to the Tigers on Monday but was handed just a grade one contrary conduct charge by the NRL Match Review Committee on Tuesday.

The Raiders took the early plea for Shillington, meaning the 32-year-old can play in Canberra's clash with the Manly Sea Eagles on Sunday.

Shillington's team-mate Joseph Leilua accepted a one-match ban for a grade one shoulder charge on Kyle Lovett.

In other NRL disciplinary news, New Zealand Warriors forward Ben Matulino has been offered a three-match suspension for a grade two shoulder charge on Gareth Widdop of the St George Illawarra Dragons but will serve five games on the sideline if he challenges and loses.

Glenn Stewart of the South Sydney Rabbitohs is amongst a group of players to take a one-game ban to reduce their punishment, with Brisbane Broncos captain Justin Hodges another.
